For everything to run smoothly, it\u2019s essential to equip them with the\u00a0<strong>right skills and tools<\/strong>. This company is highly aware of that, and even though their market success was already impressive, they decided that there\u2019s always room for improvement \u2013 and for making everyday work easier. In this case study you can read how an\u00a0<strong>international retail chain chose to strengthen its teams by improving clarity of communication, cooperation, and overall efficiency<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Challenges<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The broader context:\u00a0<strong>an international retail chain in the food industry, with several hundred stores across a dozen countries<\/strong>. Like any large company, it operates on established processes and routines \u2013 but what if they can do better? A large number of employees brings inevitable challenge \u2013\u00a0<strong>dislocation across the country, international markets, numerous teams that need to cooperate on a daily basis<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 misunderstandings happen. When you add a large number of foreign workers that this company employs, communication barriers grow even further. These employees not only interact with each other but also with countless customers every day. Miscommunication and unclear messages can easily lead to difficulties in teamwork and daily operations.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Desired Outcomes<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This company takes pride in investing in its employees through various development initiatives and projects. In line with that, they decided to provide their employees with\u00a0<strong>all the tools necessary<\/strong>\u00a0to minimize misunderstandings \u2013 whether they\u2019re caused\u00a0<strong>by language barriers, limited communication skills, emotional unawareness, high stress levels<\/strong>, or\u00a0<strong>lack of empathy and understanding<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 for themselves and their colleagues. The company\u2019s goal was to reduce these factors in order to\u00a0<strong>empower\u00a0<\/strong>their employees for daily work,\u00a0<strong>strengthen\u00a0<\/strong>communication within and between teams,\u00a0<strong>build resilience\u00a0<\/strong>to daily challenges,\u00a0<strong>improve customer service\u00a0<\/strong>by developing employee interpersonal skills, and finally,\u00a0<strong>strengthen the overall culture of understanding, learning and continuous growth.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Solution<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>To achieve these goals, this company implemented a two-part solution:\u00a0<strong>the LPC for Business service<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Croatian language eLearning<\/strong>\u00a0courses for store workers within the\u00a0<strong>LPC<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>platform<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The LPC LMS and LPC for Business provided access to\u00a0<strong>over 100 eLearning courses<\/strong>\u00a0covering\u00a0<strong>professional and personal development<\/strong>\u00a0topics \u2013 from\u00a0<strong>leadership<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0<strong>communication<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>foreign<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>languages<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 with the added possibility of\u00a0<strong>custom content creation<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>24\/7 access<\/strong>\u00a0to all learning materials.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the\u00a0<strong>Croatian language course<\/strong>\u00a0helped non-native employees quickly and interactively master everyday vocabulary and get to know the local culture.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Implementation<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Preparations for implementing these solutions began several months before employees actually started using the LPC platform.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>LPC for Business<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>1.\u00a0<strong>Training Needs Analysis<\/strong><br \/>\nIn order to create a learning plan according to specific participant needs, roles\u00a0 and the challenges they face, while following company goals and values, our LPC Consultants and the Client (especially the HR department) met several times, and together they created an annual learning plan customized for four different participant groups.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0<strong>Pre-Kick Off Activities<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Client and HalPet agreed on the frequency of reminders, progress tracking, and reporting to key Client stakeholders.<br \/>\nSince HalPet\u2019s approach emphasizes\u00a0<strong>clear communication<\/strong>\u00a0in all directions \u2013 a value this Client also shares \u2013 participants received\u00a0<strong>timely notifications and detailed instructions<\/strong>\u00a0on what to expect.<br \/>\nEach group had a\u00a0<strong>30-minute virtual Kick Off Meeting<\/strong>, where LPC Consultants demonstrated how to use the platform, where to find the courses, how to get support if needed, and how to approach learning \u201cthe LPC way.\u201d It is also important to mention that these Kick Off Meetings and all key information were also converted into eLearning content and uploaded to the LPC system, so participants could revisit them anytime.<br \/>\nThe key Client stakeholders received the same information, as well as additional manuals for group management and progress tracking.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0<strong>Setting Up \u201cMy Growth\u201d<\/strong><br \/>\nFour groups were created in the LPC system according to the Client\u2019s needs. Each group received\u00a0<strong>6 to 7 courses<\/strong>, carefully selected from the rich LPC for Business library, to support their specific goals. This way,\u00a0<strong>150 participants<\/strong>\u00a0received a personalized\u00a0<strong>Learning Journey<\/strong>\u00a0for the next 12 months.<br \/>\nThe LPC for Business solution provided each Learner with mandatory programs from January to December 2025, with clearly defined timelines for each, i.e., each participant was provided with their personal \u201c<strong>My Growth<\/strong>\u201d. In addition, they received access to over 100 optional courses covering topics such as leadership, communication, resilience, stress management, microlearning, et cetera.<br \/>\n<strong>My growth \u2013 4 groups<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-859\" src=\"https:\/\/halpet.hr\/wp-content\/smush-webp\/2025\/10\/halpet_lpc_online_ucenje_case_study-1024x471.png.webp\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/halpet.hr\/wp-content\/smush-webp\/2025\/10\/halpet_lpc_online_ucenje_case_study-1024x471.png.webp 1024w, https:\/\/halpet.hr\/wp-content\/smush-webp\/2025\/10\/halpet_lpc_online_ucenje_case_study-300x138.png.webp 300w, https:\/\/halpet.hr\/wp-content\/smush-webp\/2025\/10\/halpet_lpc_online_ucenje_case_study-768x353.png.webp 768w, https:\/\/halpet.hr\/wp-content\/smush-webp\/2025\/10\/halpet_lpc_online_ucenje_case_study-1536x706.png.webp 1536w, https:\/\/halpet.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/halpet_lpc_online_ucenje_case_study.png 1920w\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"471\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The implementation of the eLearning course\u00a0<strong>Basic Croatian for Store Workers<\/strong>\u00a0followed a similar process. All the same key steps were included \u2013 meetings with the Client, selecting the most suitable first-level Croatian language courses for foreign workers, defining timelines, and setting up progress-tracking methods.<br \/>\nThe course consists of\u00a0<strong>three lessons and a final knowledge test<\/strong>, with a few months allocated for completion. HalPet tracked participants\u2019 progress, sending weekly reminders. The timeline was made according to the date of their arrival to Croatia \u2013 i.e., these\u00a0<strong>135 participants<\/strong>\u00a0gained\u00a0<strong>access to the LPC platform<\/strong>\u00a0and the Croatian language course\u00a0<strong>several months before arriving to Croatia<\/strong>.<br \/>\nTo ensure a smooth onboarding experience, the program was announced in advance, and participants received detailed instructions for registration and using the LPC platform, both before and at the start of the program.<br \/>\nAfter completing the course, they could\u00a0<strong>continue improving their knowledge<\/strong>\u00a0through three mini follow-up courses \u2013\u00a0<strong>Power Up exercises 1, 2, and 3.<\/strong><br \/>\nAs with the LPC for Business solution, the Client stakeholders received\u00a0<strong>monthly progress reports<\/strong>, while having the option to independently track any participant\u2019s progress, shown also graphically, and download reports in Excel format.<br \/>\nBecause the company has strong experience in employee training and development, they also appreciated the ability to\u00a0<strong>integrate LPC reports with their HR tools<\/strong>, making it easier to measure learning outcomes and internally report results.<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0<strong>Additional Activities<\/strong><br \/>\nLPC for Business participants also have an option of joining in to\u00a0<strong>monthly webinars<\/strong>\u00a0on relevant business and personal topics, such as leadership, work-life balance, managing change, using AI tools, and many more.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Results<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Judging by the current results, the implementation of the LPC platform went flawlessly and employees have fully embraced this way of learning. They see it not only as an opportunity to improve their professional skills but also as a way to grow personally.<\/p>\n<p>Since the project is only halfway through, we\u2019ll share\u00a0<strong>two progress checkpoints<\/strong>\u00a0from the journey so far \u2013 after\u00a0<strong>two months<\/strong>\u00a0and after\u00a0<strong>six months<\/strong>. Maybe you\u2019re wondering why precisely these two? Well, six months makes sense \u2013 the project\u2019s midpoint. But we also chose the two-month mark to show the\u00a0<strong>consistency of these participants\u2019 success<\/strong>. As we mentioned earlier, the project\u2019s beginning was marked by enthusiasm, which was clearly seen from the number of initial logins and how quickly the learning began. Two months in, participants had settled into the process and completed one or two programs from their personal development plans \u2013 a good time to test whether motivation was just an initial spark or something lasting.<\/p>\n<p>*Move the slider to fins out more.*<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Checkpoint 1 \u2013 After Two Months<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>In just two months of using LPC for Business,\u00a0<strong>150 participants<\/strong>\u00a0completed nearly\u00a0<strong>600 courses<\/strong>, and half of those were\u00a0<em><strong>additional<\/strong><\/em><strong>\u00a0courses<\/strong>, i.e., beyond the ones required in their learning plans.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, in those first two months,\u00a0<strong>123 participants (91%)<\/strong>\u00a0successfully completed the course<strong>\u00a0Basic Croatian for Store Workers<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>14 of them<\/strong>\u00a0had already started upgrading their knowlegde with the first\u00a0<em><strong>Power Up<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0course.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Checkpoint 2 \u2013 After Six Months<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>After six months \u2013 halfway through the project \u2013 LPC for Business participants\u2019\u00a0<strong>number of completed courses grew to nearly 1,000<\/strong>. When focusing only on the mandatory courses, the completion rate remained consistently\u00a0<strong>above 80%<\/strong>\u00a0within the expected timeframe.<\/p>\n<p>The Croatian language learners also achieved excellent results \u2013 with an\u00a0<strong>average score of 85%<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>97% (131 out of 135)<\/strong>\u00a0of them successfully completed the course. Their effort and consistency are unquestionable when we look at the fact that they\u00a0<strong>went through the course multiple times<\/strong>\u00a0and continuously\u00a0<strong>achieved higher scores<\/strong>\u00a0on the final knowledge tests, as well as\u00a0<strong>completing the Power Up<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>exercises<\/strong>. The biggest effect, though, was visible when the participants arrived to Croatia, with one story particularly standing out. On arrival to their first workday,\u00a0<strong>they proudly and confidently greeted their Croatian colleagues with a friendly \u201cDobar dan\u201d<\/strong>, and continued the conversation using as many Croatian words as they could remember from the course.<\/p>\n<p>This small but meaningful anecdote perfectly illustrates the\u00a0<strong>course\u2019s real-life impact<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 it shows that employees felt\u00a0<strong>confident<\/strong>\u00a0enough to use their new language skills from day one, creating a\u00a0<strong>positive first impression<\/strong>, for themselves and their local colleagues. Secondly, the\u00a0<strong>ability to access the course<\/strong>\u00a0on their phone makes it easy to review materials\u00a0<strong>anytime and anywhere<\/strong>, while the minimal number of support requests from participants demonstrated how\u00a0<strong>intuitive and easy-to-use<\/strong>\u00a0the LPC platform is.<\/p>\n<p>Through this way of learning, participants in\u00a0<strong>LPC for Business<\/strong>\u00a0have:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>developed a habit of continuous learning<\/li>\n<li>become more proactive in solving daily challenges<\/li>\n<li>improved the clarity of their communication \u2013 verbal, nonverbal, and written<\/li>\n<li>gained confidence in public speaking, whether in team meetings, among colleagues, or with customers<\/li>\n<li>strengthened relationships with both colleagues and customers<\/li>\n<li>enhanced the customer experience<\/li>\n<li>found tools to reduce stress and miscommunication in their everyday work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Participants in the LPC\u00a0<strong>Basic Croatian for Store Workers<\/strong>\u00a0course have:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>successfully mastered the basics of the Croatian language<\/li>\n<li>learned the names of food and beverages<\/li>\n<li>gained vocabulary to navigate store interactions<\/li>\n<li>improved customer experience through communication in Croatian<\/li>\n<li><strong>built confidence to actively use the language.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>The results clearly show that enthusiasm remains high \u2013 this program has helped establish a lasting culture of continuous learning and development. It has also successfully provided the essential language foundation for a confident start in Croatia.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Although this project is still ongoing, we can confidently say this company is well on its way to achieving all of its goals. By giving employees this opportunity, they have equipped them with<strong>\u00a0practical tools for strengthening their communication and interpersonal skills, managing everyday challenges more effectively, taking better care of their mental well-being,\u00a0<\/strong>and<strong>\u00a0improving their work-life balance<\/strong>. Team communication has noticeably improved \u2013 participants are actively applying what they\u2019ve learned, showing more\u00a0<strong>understanding and empathy<\/strong>\u00a0toward each other,\u00a0<strong>delegating tasks<\/strong>\u00a0with more ease, but also\u00a0<strong>taking responsibility<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<strong>resulting in fewer misunderstandings and clearer, more open feedback exchanges.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The second part of the solution \u2013 the Croatian language course \u2013 also played an important role. It gave employees the basic vocabulary they needed to<strong>\u00a0communicate easier with colleagues<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>understand local customs<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>culture<\/strong>. After all, language and culture go hand in hand. \ud83d\ude0a<\/p>\n<p>Beyond improving internal collaboration,\u00a0<strong>in just a few months<\/strong>\u00a0the program also raised the overall level of\u00a0<strong>customer service provided<\/strong>, as employees started applying their new communication and interpersonal skills in daily interactions.<\/p>\n<p>Another key achievement \u2013 and perhaps the foundation for all the others \u2013 is the\u00a0<strong>development of a habit of continuous learning and personal growth<\/strong>. The participants have shown\u00a0<strong>genuine commitment<\/strong>\u00a0to building a culture of\u00a0<strong>ongoing<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>development and self-improvement<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Of course,\u00a0<strong>collaboration, communication, and transparency only truly work when led by example<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 and in this case, this company did just that.
