What is ESG?<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

ESG is an acronym for <\/span>Environmental<\/span><\/b>, <\/span>Social<\/span><\/b> and <\/span>Governance <\/span><\/b>r<\/span>epresenting the three key areas used to measure a company’s sustainability, ethics, and socially responsible business practices. Although without an official definition, European Commision defines ESG as a collection of environmental, social, and governance factors that can materially affect a company, its operation, and value creation. We face constant and significant change in all areas of contemporary life. Global challenges such as climate change, rise in inequality, and depletion of natural resources are increasingly impacting both our personal and professional lives. As a result, redefining and adapting existing business models has become essential. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Taking the ESG approach in redefining business models ensures that companies stay responsible and transparent in their work across all areas \u2013 from relationships with customers, investors, and employees, to regulatory compliance and community impact. This approach helps generate positive impact and social progress as it includes responsible management of not only financial, but also natural and social capital.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Legislative framework<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

The European Union’s strategic framework guides business operations toward ESG principles through directives and regulations that have been implemented in Croatian legislation. In the ESG field, three legal acts are the most significant: <\/span>T<\/span>he Taxonomy Regulation, SFDR, and CSRD.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
